Recommendation (from TRS)

ECDD Technical summary
This substance is closely related to 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), which is already a controlled substance (see section 2.15). No data are available concerning its pharmacological profile, toxicology, pharmacokinetics, dependence potential, nature and magnitude of associated public health or social problems, or epidemiology of its use and abuse. The substance is under national control in Canada and the United Kingdom. It has no known therapeutic use and there are no data concerning its production. There have been reports of small seizures of the drug in the United States of America. In summary, there is no evidence, except for-its structure, that N-ethyl-3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine has a pharmacological profile or dependence potential similar to compounds already controlled under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances. Thus, the Expert Committee was unable to make any recommendation until more information becomes available about the compound. Because of the close structural relationship of this substance to MDA, which is already controlled, the Expert Committee urged that efforts be made promptly to gather further pharmacological data on it.
