Hydroxyamphetamine is a racemic mixture. There is no substantial evidence that if affects the central nervous system or that it has dependence potential. Furthermore, there are no data

available indicating abuse of this substance or that there are any existing public health problems associated with its use; the Expert Committee did not envisage any significant hydroxyamphetamine abuse in the future. In summary, there is no evidence, except for its structure, that hydroxyamphetamine has a pharmacological profile or dependence liability similar to compounds already controlled under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances. The substance is used therapeutically as an ophthalmic solution to dilate the pupils. The
